Oil Field Exhibit

Aztec was the first town in New Mexico to use natural gas in homes and businesses. A full sized wooden oilrig and “doghouse” is on display along with other old oil field tools.

Main Building Exhibits

The Pioneer Room contains information on Aztec’s early families and many photographs of the 78 Aztec buildings now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Telephone Room is filled with antique telephone equipment set up by The Telephone Pioneers of America. A wonderful Mineral, Fossil and Rock Collection is found in the Lobato Room along with mining tools. The Indian Room displays a small selection of Indian Arts and Crafts.

A Historic Barbershop has been recreated including turn of the century barber chairs.  One room contains a collection of clocks, another historic clothing, and the Agriculture Room has a display of early farming and dairy equipment.
